I was a horticulturist and garden designer so have made ceramics to contain plants, flowers and fruit. Colour and pattern are sources of inspiration as well as research in to differing pottery traditions. My wheel thrown ceramics are about surface and rhythm, experimentation and risk taking.

After retiring i took ceramics courses at York college and Harrogate college. i was quickly hooked and bought a small second hand kiln after seeing an advertisement in Tesco’s. I’ve been on residential courses with professional potters including: Jim Robison, Deborah Baynes and Tim Andrews.

I have had pieces accepted for the Harrogate Open competition on two occasions and I have exhibited my pottery with the spirit art group in Kirby Overblow , at the Feva festival in knaresborough and latterly at St. Peter’s church in Harrogate with the mindful arts group. My pottery has been sold in Art in the Mill in Knaresborough

In March 2018 we moved into our refurbished bungalow in Ilkley where I now have a purpose built studio.

For the past couple of years I have been taking classes drawing the human body from live models. My aim is to work towards more sculptural forms in clay.
