2017 Art Trail
Designer/makers Clare and Richard Gunson are Sardines For Tea, designing and making original framed artworks with an uncomplicated and natural style. Exploring varied techniques, mixed media artworks draw from both contemporary and traditional themes.
Our large Shipping Forecast letter based work has a nostalgic, poetic feel and is displayed in our own handmade wooden frames. Recent works include Richard’s love of the photographic image being combined with collected items to create Clare’s contemporary collages, displayed in handmade wooden boxes bringing in urban, rural and coastal themes. Richard’s photography features again in deconstructed, waxed, photographic pieces, adding depth and texture to captured moments.
Our smaller pieces include bird watercolour and ink work, which is mounted on reclaimed wood and presented in a contemporary box frame.
We are proud to supply several galleries with our work, Number Four Gallery (St Abbs), VK Gallery (StIves – Cambridgeshire) Mulberry Street Gallery (Swanage) and Staithes Gallery (Staithes). We have also exhibited our work through the Art in the Pen events and are delighted this year to be exhibiting our work as part of the Saltaire Arts Trail.
