Kerry Stoker

2017 Art Trail

Using mainly acrylic and oils, I experiment with styles from abstract and loose, to disciplined and representational, keeping my work vibrant and fresh. Sometimes my paintings are completely imaginary and I love to use colour, shape and movement to express and evoke an emotional response, and sometimes they are based loosely or definitely on a memory or image of somewhere I have been. Landscape informs both my free flowing abstract, and my representational, paintings. Gardens and still life, along with quiet interiors I find equally fascinating.

2016 Art Trail

Painting makes me happy. I love colour and the process and stuff of paint and work mainly in acrylic on canvas or paper. Immersing myself in and experimenting with different styles keeps my work vibrant and fresh and depends on my mood, vision or client’s brief. Some are observed and rendered in minute detail; others are a softened version of reality, or free and totally abstract.

Discovering and developing technique is essential for my artistic progression, which I always find satisfying, stimulating and challenging. Producing a painting that comes alive from a plain flat surface is tremendously exciting.

Nothing gives me greater pleasure than connecting and communicating via my paintings with other people transporting them into a world in which to dream, stimulating memories and the imagination.
