2016 Art Trail

I don’t understand everything I create. I create as a means to understand.

I have been a freelance photographer and designer for over 10 years but my love of and for photography stretches back as far as I can remember. Without a camera I feel naked, at odds with the world and the people in it.

Walking and taking photographs is something I have done since I had a camera. Whether it’s the grey industrial suburbs of my youth or the spectacular vistas found in God’s own country, the need to get outdoors and explore my surroundings with a camera is overwhelming and impossible to ignore.

My photography has been exhibited in a variety of exhibitions and shows across the world including Leeds, London and New York. I also have work in a number of private and public collections including the Royal Photographic Society’s permanent collection.

I also share my enthusiasm for outdoors creativity via Walking Photographer Tours, which is an organisation I founded a couple years ago. Through this organisation I deliver photo walk workshops and over the last two years helped over 300 people get more out of their camera while enjoying being outdoors and getting creative.
